About Us
Who are we?
Forced Laughter is not a sketch comedy group. Instead, it is an outlet for friends to share short videos. There is no set cast or group. If you have an idea, come talk to me and I'll help you film it. Or, if you want to act in a sketch or two, I can almost definitely find a role for you.

Our History
In 2002 I purchased a digital camera and pointed it at Brandon. It was never planned; one of us would just pull out the camera, hit record, and we watched what came of it. Months later, we had hours of footage, and no one to share it with. So we released a DVD called Be My Valentine, and sold it to friends.

The DVD had no structure. It was a project of pure spontaneity; a two man show, Brandon and me. Because nothing was written or planned, the DVD was simply the two of us messing around with a camera, and because of this, I would like to think it had a certain charm to it. For one sketch, we decided Brandon would go in the woods and search for Sasquatch, but we didn't even bother creating a fake Sasquatch or scripting events, so it resulted in Brandon chasing nothing for 30 minutes, and screaming at trees. The DVD was well received despite the lack of direction.

In 2003, Scott L. and I began to contemplate creating a full-length comedy titled Darryl's Song. Darryl's Song ignored all the rules and created its own brand of humor. The movie was shaping up to be something truly special. But due to a lack of script and preparation, coupled with casting difficulties, the project was abandoned halfway through. Despite being incomplete, I released the movie to friends as a way of improving my editing and producing skills.

Immediately afterwards, Brandon and I went back to work on Be My Valentine 2. After recording hours of footage, it became immediately apparent that we had evolved as filmmakers. We no longer settled for uninspired work, and we found ourselves gravitating to organized ideas and sketches.

The idea of putting our work online soon surfaced. We debated between completing and releasing BMV2, or starting a website. I can honestly say starting this website has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It feels great to share videos, not only with friends, but people all over the world. When I first started this website, I wasn't sure if it would last longer than a month or two, but we have received an overwhelmingly positive response, and I now hope this little project will last for years to come.

Thanks for watching!
